The exhibit, Jazz! Art Quilts in Performance that showcases the  quilts of Marlene O’Bryant Seabrook, has been extended. Formerly scheduled to close July 31st, the exhibit will now remain on display until September 15, 2009 at the Avery Research Center in Charleston, SC.

I took a day trip to Charleston last week to see the exhibit. I was lucky enough to get a personal tour from Marlene who is shown here with her quilt God Bless the Child. This quilt was inspired by a song of the same name by Billie Holiday.

The quilts are fun and educational. In addition to enjoying the quilts, I learned a lot about jazz. Also included in the exhibit are jazz themed post cards creaated by members of the African American Quilters online group.

A catalog of the exhibit is available in the gift shop for $10.00. It will make a wonderful addition to your  quilt library.

  1. O.V., it was truly a surprise and a pleasure to have been able to spend some time with you. I was googling for some other information and surfed onto this page.

Thank you for your kind remarks about my exhibition.
