The featured quilt of the week in the May 9, 2010 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter is called Stepping Stones and it was created by Brenda Shelby. Sometimes quilting is like opening a big box of 64 Crayola crayons. The creative choices seem endless.
To make Stepping Stones, Brenda says she went into her fabric stash and discovered all of the batiks in this quilt on her shelf. The layout of the quilt evokes memories of crossing a small stream by jumping from stone to stone to get across.
The 38 x 38 inch quilt was made for a Mennonite relief sale. Brenda pieced and quilted Stepping Stones on her machine.
