“A Quiet Place” Judged Best Art Quilt at Atlanta Quilt Festival

A Quiet Place by Marquetta Bell Johnson

The featured quilt in the August 1, 2010 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter is called A Quiet Place, and it was created by Marquetta Bell-Johnson.  This quilt, along with approximately 50 other quilts and dolls, is part of the 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival sponsored by the Clara Ford Foundation and Hammonds House Museum. A Quiet Place was chosen by the judges as the Best Art Quilt!
Marquetta used many of her own hand-dyed fabrics in this quilt. It is also painted, appliqued and quilted by hand. A Quiet Place measures 36 x 42 inches. It is listed for sale at $1250.00
The Atlanta Quilt Festival continues through August 13 at the South Fulton Arts Center,  located at 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
