Jordan’s Fish

Jordan's Fish by Janice Daniel

With the last days of summer upon us, the featured quilt in the August 22, 2010 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter is a reminder that we need to get out there and enjoy the remaining days of summer with gusto. It may be a good time to go fishing. If you are not a fisherman, maybe a good old fashioned fish fry in the back yard might do the trick so long as it is not Jordan’s fish that you are frying!

The featured quilt of the week is called Jordan’s Fish, and it was created by Janice Daniel. This whimsical fish and his playmate were created for Janice’s grandson Jordan.

To create him, Janice used applique and embroidery techniques using colorful fabrics and thread. To give the piece a more realistic feel, she created the sea currents and tracks in the sand with thread.

Jordan’s Fish was recently part of the 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival held at the South Fulton Arts Center.
