Maui Flower Power

Maui Flower Power by Jeanette Walton

The featured quilt of the week in the January 9, 2011 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter is called Maui Flower Power.  It was created by Jeanette Walton.

This is the perfect quilt for the second week in January. Most of us are wishing we were anywhere the snow is not. Since we cannot pick up and leave town, Maui Flower Power will have to serve as your “staycation”.

Jeanette Walton

Jeanette used bright batiks to coordinate with the Hawaiian floral print. The circle pattern gives the quilt a modern art feel. The theme of the 50 x 41 inch quilt is carried out in the border with parts of the brightly stripped pieced fabrics extending into the dark blue border.

Maui Flower Power was exhibited at 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival©. See more of Jeanette’s work at the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival©, July 31, 2011 – August 13, 2011 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
