It’s not quite spring yet, but we can already see signs that it is just around the corner. Daffodils have popped up. Pollen is in the air, and we are starting your week with a butterfly quilt. The featured quilt of the week in the March 6, 2011 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter is called Butterfly on the Wall. It was created by Jackie Jackson-Harvey.
This round quilt, which is 48 inches in diameter, was created by using a special wedge-shaped ruler to cut the strips. Jackie used cotton, silk and rayon fabrics leftover from her home decorating project so that her butterfly would match her home decor. Her quilt is pieced and quilted on her machine.
Butterfly on the Wall was part of the 2009 Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Show. To see more of Jackie’s beautiful quilts, visit the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival© which will be held July 31 – August 13, 2011 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
