Marvtastic Memories! Appraised During Quilt Festival

Marvtastic Memories! by Dr. Joan Gaither

Dr. Joan Gaither is a prolific documentary quilter. Our history will not be forgotten as long as she has needle and thread.
The seventh quilt in Dr. Gaither’s My American Series  is called Marvtastic Memories! It was appraised yesterday at Hammonds House Museum by Holly Anderson during the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Those who were able to see this quilt in person were awe-struck by its size and its complexity.
Marvtastic Memories! documents the history of the National Black Theatre Festival which is held in Winston-Salem, NC bi-annually. Herman Jones, Director of Theatre South Atlanta,  is the keeper of the quilt. For more information, visit www.theatresouthatlanta.org.
