The Most Expensive Quilt Ever Sold

The most expensive quilt ever sold at auction is a Civil War-era quilt known as the Reconciliation Quilt. It was  bought for $264,000 at Sotheby’s in 1991. It is now at the International Quilt Study Center at the University of Nebraska .Your quilt may not be worth that much today, but it may be 100 years from now.

Holly Anderson, Georgia’s only certified quilt appraiser, will appraise quilts at Hammonds House Museum as part of the activities of the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Appointments are available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012. Hammonds House Museum is located at 503 Peeples Street, Atlanta, GA 30310. Appraisals are $45.00 for each quilt.

All other activities of the Atlanta Quilt Festival except the Beginning Dollmaking Class will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
