There were some amazing quilts in the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival exhibit. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to whet your appetite for this year’s festival.

The quilt shown above is called Sparkling Bloom. It was created by Brenda Shelby.

Celebrate with us at the Opening Reception of the 2013 Atlanta Quilt Festival from noon – 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The exhibit closes August 10, 2013.

Sparkling Bloom is First Runner Up in the Art Quilt Category

Sparkling Bloom by Brenda Shelby was chosen by the judges as First Runner-Up in the Art Quilt Category at the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival. This quilt features curved piecing and is embellished with crystals.

The quilts in  the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival exhibit are absolutely amazing! They are definitely a must see. The exhibit will remain up through August 11th at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The Center is open daily from 10 – 5 p.m., but will be open until 7 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012. It is closed Sunday.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. While there, make sure you cast your vote for the one quilt that you think is BEST OF SHOW.

Stop ‘N Go Green

St. Patrick’s Day is not the only reason to think green. We must also save the planet. We must also make beautiful quilts.

Stop ‘N Go Green was made by Brenda Shelby. It was her entry in response to a Tri-Guild challenge to express what going green means to you.

Sun Leaves Ties For Best Art Quilt

Sun Leaves, 43 x 47 inches, by Brenda Shelby, 2011. Winner of Best Art Quilt, 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival.

Sun Leaves by Brenda Shelby tied for first place in the Best Art Quilt category at the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival. The quilt, which is made from hand painted fabrics, measures 43 x 47 inches.

Brenda received an original ribbon designed by Laura Sorton and a $50.00 check from the Clara Ford Foundation.
