Call for Entries at Carnegie Center For Art and History

The Carnegie Center for Art and History has published the following call for entries for its annual show. The deadline is October 16, 2010.

For the eighth year, the Carnegie Center for Art & History invites artists to submit entries for Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie, an exhibition exploring the world of contemporary art quilts. This annual, juried exhibit draws works of art by artists across the United States and celebrates innovation and creative thought in the increasingly popular medium of art quilts.

The Carnegie Center is pleased to have Rowland Ricketts, Judy Rush and Joanne Weis as jurors for the 2011 Form, Not Function exhibition. In addition to selecting the works for the exhibit, they will also select some of the exhibition awards on the opening day of the exhibition.

Eligibility: Form, Not Function is an annual juried exhibit of contemporary quilt art, open to artists living in the United States. All works must be quilted (two or more distinct layers held together with stitches); other techniques and mediums may be incorporated. Works must be ready to hang on the wall, including the hanging rod. Works must be original and completed since January 1, 2007. Maximum size is 100” height and 60” width. There is no minimum size. Three-dimensional works including works mounted on stretchers) are eligible, but the work must be ready to exhibit on a pedestal or include mounting hardware for wall display.

Entry Fee: $30.00 for three works; $10.00 for each additional work.

$100 Award for Political and Social Commentary

Clara Ford Foundation Seeks Entries For 2010 Quilt Festival

The Clara Ford Foundation seeks entries for its 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival. The quilts should interpret the theme A Legacy of Quilting — “Look What Big Mama Started!” Traditional and art quilts are welcome.

The 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA,  August 2 – August 13, 2010. It is being held in collaboration with the Hammonds House Museum.

The deadline for entry is June 15, 2010. Details of the Call for Entries and the Entry  Form are  on the Clara Ford Foundation web site.

Entry Deadline for Bulloch Hall Show is January 31

The entry deadline for the Bulloch Hall Quilt Show is January 31, 2010. Visit www.bullochhallquiltguild.com to download the entry form. Bulloch Hall is located in Roswell, GA.

The theme of this year’s show is “Tomorrow’s Classics Today”. The show will run from March 13 – 21, 2010. Show hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $8 for Adults, and $6 for Children 6-12.

Lark Books is Having an Online Quilt Contest

Lark Books has announced an online Quilt It! Contest running from October 15 to January 5. The contest is open to the public and  invites crafters to create and submit a photo of a quilt.  The quilt has to be made with 3 of 5 elements — birds, mountains, silver, recycled materials, and paper.

There is a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate to Hancocks of Paducah and 11 quilting books from the Lark collection.  Four other  category  winners will each receive 11 quilting books.
