Students in the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival “sold out” Beginning Dollmaking class worked very hard on their dolls. Cookie Patterson taught the class which was held at Hammonds House Museum.

Below are some of the dolls that were part of the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival doll exhibit. The Atlanta Quilt Festival is held each year during the first two weeks in August.

The Atlanta Quilt Festival will again feature an exhibition of hand made dolls during the Opening Reception. These ladies are always a hit at the Festival. This year, the exhibit is curated by Gretchen Scott.

Celebrate with us at the Opening Reception of the 2013 Atlanta Quilt Festival from noon – 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The exhibit closes August 10, 2013.

Cookie Patterson will teach a Beginning Dollmaking class Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Hammonds House Museum. The class starts at 10 a.m., and the cost is$15.00. Email Cookie Patterson at cincygirl2028@bellsouth.net for more information. Aretha Franklin was not the only star at the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Diva dolls also had a starring role at the 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Here are some of them.

Cookie Patterson  curated  the doll exhibit which was featured July 29, 2012 during the Opening Reception of the Festival. The Festival was held at the South Fulton Arts Center and Hammonds House Museum. It is held annually the first two weeks in August.

Festival Attendee Wins Doll

Kelly Fleece was the lucky attendee at the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival who won this adorable doll. She was created by dollmaker Jocelyn Carter.

The festival continues through August 13, 2011 at the South Fulton Arts Center and Hammonds House Museum. The doll exhibit was curated by Cookie Patterson.

Quilt Festival Opens to Large Crowd

The Opening Reception of the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival opened Sunday to record crowds and enthusiastic attendees. The South Fulton Arts Center (located at 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA) was alive with activity.

Over 50 quilts and 20 dolls were on display for viewing. Marva Swanson curated the quilt exhibit, and Cookie Patterson curated the doll exhibit.

Additionally, attendees were treated to quilt demonstrations, doll-making demonstrations, and children were able to create their own quilt block. The highlight of the reception was the Book Fair. Six local authors shared their work in their own unique way. The authors were Faye Adams-Taylor, Dilsa Bailey, Imani Constance, Marquetta Bell-Johnson, Aisha Lumumba and Yusef Poole.

The exhibit remains at South Fulton Arts Center until August 13, 2011. Make sure to go by and vote for your favorite quilt. The prize for “Best of Show” will be awarded to the quilt getting the most votes.

Cookie Keeling Patterson will teach Beginning Dollmaking Wednesday, August 11, 2010 as part of the festivities of the 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival. There are still slots available. If interested email ovbrant@gmail.com. The class is free.

The Clara Ford Foundation seeks original, handmade dolls for its doll exhibit. This exhibit will be part of the 2010 Atlanta Quilt Festival being held August 1 -13, 2010 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA..

Entry forms must be received by June 15, 2010 and the doll must be available for exhibit August 1 – August 13.
