In honor of National Coffee Day, here’s a cute quilt by Vanessa Brown called Java Jive. This quilt is sure to perk up your day.

Java Jive was recently part of the 2011 Atlanta Quilt Festival exhibit at South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The 2012 Atlanta Quilt Festival opens July 29th.

Sometimes the fabric dictates the quilt. Such is the case with the featured quilt in the July 4, 2010 edition of the Start Your Week With a Quilt newsletter. It is called Java Jive.  It was created by Vanessa Brown.

Vanessa says she fell in love with the fabric called “Spill the Beans” designed by Cyndi Walker  for Clothworks. She knew immediately she had to make a quilt that featured it.

To make her creation, Vanessa framed the “fussy cut” coffee cups by  strips in pastel colors. These cups make up the center of the quilt. The quilt is then finished by two borders of coffee themed fabric making the quilt measure 42 x 55 inches.

Vanessa says, “she is enamored with flavored coffees, and Java Jive is a great tribute to them.”

I say, “if the coffee doesn’t get you excited about facing the day, this lovely quilt should.”
