The Master Quilter Workshop held annually during the Atlanta Quilt Festival is SOLD OUT!
Mt. Vernon, NY resident Renee Fleuranges-Valdes will lead a master quilting class on Saturday August 12, 2017 during the 2017 Atlanta Quilt Festival. The workshop will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Quilters will learn how to use improvisational appliqué techniques to make an African mask.
Although this workshop is sold out, visit Atlanta Quilt Festival on Facebook to check out other activities you may enjoy.

Quilt Artist Carole Lyles Shaw will headline the 2016 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Carole will lead a workshop on Improvisational Quilting August 13, 2016 at South Fulton Arts Center. The class will last from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and a sewing machine is required. The class fee is $60.00.
Carole is a leader in the modern quilt movement. She will teach attendees how to choose fabrics and how to use certain techniques to get a modern look in their quilts.

Water Walk by Nina Moore, 2011
The 2015 Atlanta Quilt Festival© opens August 2, 2015 at noon at South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA and continues until August 31, 2015. The Opening Reception will feature quilts, dolls, children’s activities and our famed Quilt Market.
Other activities during the month of August include a beginning quilt class, beginning dollmaking class, and quilt appraisals. Activities are held at Hammonds House Museum and South Fulton Arts Center.

The Clara Ford Foundation will offer a Beginning Quilting class Saturday, August 09, 2014. The class is part of the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival activities.
The class will be taught by Nina Moore at the South Fulton Arts Center from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The South Fulton Arts Center is located at 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. A sewing machine is required for this class.
The cost of the class is $20.00 which includes a fabric kit. Space is limited so you must reserve your space early. Please contact Nina Moore at nmoore9548@aol.com to reserve your spot and to receive further details about the class. You may also email atlantaquiltfestival@gmail.com to register.
If you have always wanted to learn to quilt, this is a great way to get started.

Holly Anderson, Georgia’s only certified quilt appraiser, will appraise quilts at Hammonds House Museum as part of the activities of the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Appointments are available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014. Hammonds House Museum is located at 503 Peeples Street, Atlanta, GA 30310. Appraisals are $50.00 for each quilt.
All other activities of the Atlanta Quilt Festival except the Beginning Dollmaking Class will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
For an appointment to get your quilt appraised, email O.V. Brantley at atlantaquiltfestival@gmail.com. Payment is due at the time of the appraisal.

Hammonds House Museum, South Fulton Arts Center and the Clara Ford Foundation are pleased to announce that Bisa Butler will be the featured quilter at the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival. She will teach a collage portrait workshop, lecture and show her quilts August 2, 2014 at South Fulton Arts Center. The cost of the workshop is $60.00 and will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Please email Marva Swanson at mmswan@bellsouth.net to register. Ms. Butler will be the sixth quilt artist featured in the Quilt Lecture Series. Carolyn L. Mazloomi was featured in 2009. Judy Tipton Rush was featured in 2010. Juanita Yeager was featured in 2011, Maria Elkins was featured in 2012 and Aisha Lumumba was featured in 2013.

The 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival© opens Sunday, July 27th at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The Opening Reception is from noon – 4 p.m., but the exhibit will remain available for viewing until August 9, 2014. Admision is free, but donations are welcome.
The Opening Reception features a quilt market, quilt demonstrations, children’s activities, and entertainment. The quilt exhibit will feature a juried exhibit of exceptional art quilts and a special exhibit of wine-themed quilts.
Other activities held at Hammonds House Museum include quilt appraisals and a Beginning Dollmaking Class.

Well known quilt artist Latifah Shakir will lead a workshop that teaches how to power up your quilting with yoga. In this personal journey you will learn yoga techniques to alleviate symptoms of pain, increase flexibility and strengthen your joints in your hands and feet.
The class is today from noon – 3 p.m. at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. The class fee is $15.00. Register by sending an email to atlantaquiltfestival@gmail.com. Space is limited so act quickly.
The class will last three hours. Attendees will create a Namaste Flag project which is a fabric collage consisting of fabric, meditating stitching and embellishments.
Supplies required for this class are items you already have around your home. Bring thread, needle, scissors, fabric scraps, embellishments such as trim, buttons, fabric markers, etc. __ whatever your heart desires. Latifah will bring the rest of the supplies.

Aisha Lumumba is the featured quilter for the Clara Ford Foundation Quilt Lecture Series which is held annually during the Atlanta Quilt Festival. Ms. Lumumba is renowned for her amazing portrait quilts that often feature famous African Americans. She has also authored several books.

Ms. Lumumba will be the fifth quilt artist featured in the Quilt Lecture Series. Carolyn L. Mazloomi was featured in 2009. Judy Tipton Rush was featured in 2010. Juanita Yeager was featured in 2011, and Maria Elkins was featured in 2012.
Ms. Lumumba will lecture and show her quilts at 3 p.m. on August 3, 2013 at the South Fulton Arts Center Theater. Admission is $10.00 at the door. Arrive early to view the quilt exhibit and enjoy a wine and cheese reception. Earlier in the day, she will teach a master classes to local quilters.
